It's official, I have now gone beyond the "I'm just feeling a little bloated lately" to "Oh my God I think my jeans must have shrunk when I dried them the other day (except I never dry my jeans)". I jumped on a scale a few days ago thinking maybe I'm just, you know, carrying more water lately, and won't it cheer me up to jump on a scale to prove to myself that I am not indeed a gluttonous cow and was suprised to find that I've gained 10 pounds. Since my birthday in June. Which I know some people are thinking wow 10 pounds big whoop! But when you're barely 5'4 (in the morning and after a few stretches, thank you), with bones the size of chopsticks, it really does make a difference.
Me yelling to P: "Oh my God I gained 10 pounds!"
P: "You can't tell at all, you look beautiful" (typical boyfriend answer but have to love him for it)
Me: "But I gained 10 pounds! Maybe my metabolism realized I turned 29!"
P: {laughter}
P: Should we order pizza?
Me: Grrrr....
I have never had issues with weight. For the most part, I've stayed around the same weight (give or take 10 pounds) for the last 10 years or so. I know I am thin and healthy, but I've never been fit. And I realize, as I get older, that my belly is starting to pouch out a little and my arms are starting to jiggle and my knees are sagging and yes, it's probably just me that sees it, but I also get tired faster and overall have much less energy than I did when I was a spry, young 18.
Well that's normal, you might be thinking but I'm going to fight mother nature dammit! I went to yoga the other week for the first time in almost a year and there was one woman who must have been at least 50 and another who was in her 30s and had just had a baby, and they both KICKED MY ASS.
To further irritate matters, yesterday P's event company hosted a pool party and every bikini model on this side of the Pacific decided to show up.
Instead of being jealous (ok I was a little bit), I decided to be inspired by these women and whip my lazy butt in to shape. I've joined iShape to set me up with basic workout/calorie intake guidelines and I start my program tomorrow. The thing that I am most looking forward to, with this program, is that it offers all sorts of logging features to keep track of when I'm working out, what I'm doing and what I'm eating. I've always been terrible about those things in the past.
I'll keep you all updated!
